The sensations you experience at the handlebars of a motorcycle are a unique pleasure: the joy of riding your motorcycle, the one you have modified and improved, is indescribable.

What is a Café Racer?

Emerging in England in the 1960s, café racers were modified and lightened motorcycles designed to achieve the optimal power-to-weight ratio. Their riders represented an English youth hungry for freedom and challenges. They were called “Rockers,” after their preferred music, or “Leather Boys” for their leather jackets; the fastest among them, those who reached 160 km/h (100 mph), were known as “Ton-up Boys.”

Their bikes were directly inspired by the motorcycles competing in the World Speed Championship: the Continental Circus. These young riders, passionate about speed and customized motorcycles, found roadside cafés located along English motorways to be the perfect opportunity to take part in wild races, drag racing between each establishment. Unique places where they could listen to rock’n’roll, banned at the time by the BBC, and where they could only drink non-alcoholic beverages, such as coffee!

Today, Café racer style is back in fashion, and many female and male bikers dream of customizing their motorcycles. Blackpines is an online store specializing in the sale of motorcycle parts and accessories for Café Racers, regardless of engine size. Our team of motorcycle preparation specialists masters every stage of a motorcycle build. Our mission is to support you, help you and offer you the best value for money on all our products.
